Early Assurance Programs
One of the benefits of pursuing the health professions at Â鶹¹û¶³ is the opportunity to apply to an early assurance program with one of several institutions that partners with Â鶹¹û¶³.
Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University (MD) Early Assurance Program
Â鶹¹û¶³ participates in the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University's Early Assurance Program, a unique program which allows Moravian graduates (once they are accepted to ) to complete their four years of medical school at in Bethlehem. Students apply to this opportunity in the fall of their junior year. Students are expected to have earned an overall and science grade point average of 3.6 at the end of their junior year. They must also earn a competitive score on the MCAT by May of their junior year.
Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) Early Assurance Program
Moravian students can apply to via the Early Assurance program after their second year if they have met the following criteria:
Must have completed first year English and;
Must have a Moravian GPA of 3.5 or above and;
Must have completed 8 of the 10 math/science requirements-
Calculus I and II (8 credits);
BIOL 111 (plus lab) and one of the following: BIOL 212 (Zoology), 119 (Botany), 210 (Genetics), or 235 (Microbiology) (8 credits total);
Physics I and II with laboratory (8 credits);
General Chemistry I and II with laboratory (8 credits);
Organic Chemistry I and II with laboratory (8 credits)
In the event of advanced placement (AP), international baccalaureate (IB) or advanced standing credit in the aforementioned courses, applicants will still be required to take substituted upper level science courses with same amount of credit weight. For pre-approval of a course intended to substitute, the student must consult with the Health Professions Advisor prior to course enrollment.
There are NO EXCEPTIONS to these requirements.
If students are interested in this program they will submit an application to the Health Professions Advisory Committee in their fourth semester (spring semester). Interviews may be conducted by the Health Professions Advisory Committee, and qualified applicants will then be forwarded to RSDM for an interview. If students are accepted into the program, they will be notified during the summer.
Accepted students complete their 4-year bachelor’s degree at Â鶹¹û¶³. The DAT is not required for application to the program, but it must be taken in the junior year. Required DAT performance level will be designated by RSDM.
