Professor Powlette's Biography
Professor Powlette specializes in linear and digital electronics, atomic and nuclear physics, Mossbauer spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and laboratory techniques. He has developed a microcomputer interfacing laboratory for the department. Mr. Powlette is advisor for the cooperative engineering programs and has directed student research projects on various aspects of the Mossbauer effect, the Compton effect, digital electronics, and on specialized topics in the interfacing of microprocessors to lab instruments. He has taught in the General Â鶹¹û¶³ Program for Teachers (GEPT) of Temple University, and served a term on Moravian's board of trustees. He is a member of Sigma Pi Sigma, the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT), and a past president of the Central Pennsylvania section of the AAPT. He received the Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching in 1965.

Professor Gerencher's Biography
From the fall semester of 1969 through the spring semester of 2009, Joseph Gerencher had been a member of the faculty within the Department of Physics and Earth Science at Â鶹¹û¶³. He taught courses in Introductory Geology, Astronomy, and Meteorology. He was advisor to the programs in geology and general science education and taught a course in Science Methods in Elementary Â鶹¹û¶³. His primary personal interests are photography and travel. He also has enjoyed making equipment to support his courses, including home-made seismographs. You can download free SIMA2 software to view output from his long-period and short period seismic systems in near-real-time.
